Lord have mercy on the Loeslie family In July, I had the honor of joining with the saints at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Radium for their the 125th anniversary celebration. It was a delightful time receiving the gifts of Christ outdoors at Old Mill State Park, and hearing all the stories of God’s grace from members at the BBQ potluck. Immanuel is a steadfast, little church which has stayed strong in the LORD by clinging to His promises, giving out the gifts of Christ, and loving others. One member told me, “People thought we were going to close 40 years ago, but by God’s grace we are still here!” Thanks be to God for His grace to sustain His church! The first person I met when I arrived was Rev. Travis Loeslie who, along with his brother, Ryan, are sons of Immanuel and serve as LCMS pastors. We had a blessed conversation as he lovingly spoke of his beloved wife, Stephanie, and six beautiful children. He had a contagious joy as he told me of the saints he serves at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morristown, MN. I gave a prayer of thanks during the worship service that the Lord has provided pastors like Travis who love Him, love His Word, love their families, and serve in His church. I did not realize that just prior to this celebration, he had been diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease. Huntington’s Disease is a progressive brain disorder with no cure. This terrible disease is all too personal for the Loeslie family as his mother has been afflicted for several years. Pastor Loeslie’s symptoms have progressed more quickly than expected and he will no longer be able to serve his Call. This presents many challenges for the family as they live in a parsonage and his bride, Stephanie, needs to care for Travis and their six children full-time. We know that the Lord is merciful and extends mercy through His people. As the Lord has been gracious to us in Christ, I ask that we, as part of the Minnesota North family, consider supporting the Loeslie family to help offset their medical expenses and assist them with finding a home. A friend has created a GoFundMe page so please use the link below to help our brother in Christ.
